Fishing Report

The flounder and striped bass fishing has picked up tremendously! The water temperature has risen to about 52 degrees which has caused the striped bass and the flounder to go on a feeding frenzy! We have been weighing in striped bass all weekend long from 20-25 pounds. Best bait sandworms, bloodworms, and fresh bunker. The best areas to catch these fish right now are the Throgs Neck Bridge, Little Neck Bay, Eastchester Bay, Hempstead Harbor, Oyster Bay, Manhassett Bay and Orchard Beach Lagoon. If you are into fly fishing they are catching bass in Turtle Cove. As the weather gets better and the water temperature warms the fish will become bigger and the fishing will get better. Looking forward to seeing you here at Jack's for all your fishing needs!

Wishing you tight lines until next time!

Right now the bigger bass have moved into little neck bay chasing the bunker. We just weighed in a bass 28 pounds at Jack's today. There are scattered schools of bunker in the area and the water temp has warmed to 51 degrees. Flounder fishing continues to be very good with fish being caught in glen island, orchard beach lagoon, eastchester bay, in the back of hemstead harbor and the back of larchmont harbor. Striped Bass tip of the day

Tips for striped bass. Put fresh bunker chunks or fresh clams on a Gamagatsu hook 7/0 with 30-40 pound line using a med. to heavy action pole then lower your line into the bait areas (where the bunker are jumping) which will probably be in 20-30 ft waters. Remember only 2 fish allowed 1 more than 28 inches and a second more than 40 inches.

It's gonna be a great fishing weekend!

Wishing you tight lines until next time!

Big John's After The Weekend Fishing Report

The first weekend in April turned out to be a decent one on the flounder front. Al Miller had 19 flounder with 16 keepers and 3 throw backs. He was fishing inside Larchmont Harbor. Sandworms is the best bait and he used plenty of mussel and clam chum to get them up. Also on the bass front The Hudson River is as alive as it could be with plenty of bass in the 10 to 15 pound range. Best bait being bloodworms and the best area being from Tarrytown to The Bear Mountain Bridge. We are fully stocked with all fresh & live bait and tackle in the shop!

Up To Date Flounder Fishing Report

Opening Day proved to be an OK one. Mr and Mrs. Jones had 4 jumbo flounders in Orchard Beach Lagoon on sandworms along with a few other anglers who also had 2 and 3 flounders each. The party boat The Island Current gave it a try in the local waters and also caught a couple of flounder. As the temperature reaches 60 degrees the water temp. should increase and the flounder should come alive. So stay tuned there should be an interesting week!

See you soon!
