Fishing Report

Tomorrow April 15th is opening day for striped bass season! Jack has plenty of fresh bunker in stock and there are bass being caught in the local area by the Throgs Neck Bridge, Little Neck Bay, Eastchester Bay, Orchard Beach and Hunter Island in anywhere from 15 to 30 feet of water. There are flounder around with the season open for another 2 weeks. Best bait sand worms, bloodworms, mussels and clams. It looks to be a stupendous striped bass season with bunker already in the area. The Hudson River is still red hot with striped bass using blood worms and fresh bunker as best bait bet. Now is the time to get out and try and land a once in a lifetime jumbo striped bass!

Fishing Report

The official kick off of the 2010 fishing season has gotten off to a spectacular start. Along with the beautiful weather the flounder fishing in the local area has seen catches of 2 to 7 flounder depending on the area. Al Miller aboard the vessel Miller Time had 6 keeper flounder with a handful of throw backs fishing with sandworms and mussels and plenty of Jack's Famous chum. Depth of water 2 to 5 feet in all the areas around Orchard Beach, Country Club, Eastchester Bay, Rye,Larchmont and Mamaroneck.

There are a few schooly stripers mixed in to make for a good catch and release action. Remember opening day striped bass is April 15th which is only 10 days away. They have been catching stripers up to 36 inches inside Little Neck Bay and in the backs of the harbors and under the bridges. Best bait Jack's Jumbo sandworms and fresh bunker.

Also Pat and Ralph fished on Good Friday and caught 22 flounder two keepers and 20 throw backs. The amount of flounder throw backs are increasing so that is a good sign for the future of the flounder! Also one of Jack's rental skiffs on Sat. April 3rd had three keeper flounder to 16 inches fishing right behind the shop in Eastchester Bay.
