Fishing Report

As we approach the final weeks of spring June is busting out all over! Striped bass and blue fish have come in like gangbusters. The fishing is good both day and night in all of the local waters from the Throgs Neck Bridge to the Stepping Stone Lighthouse, Hart's Island, Prospect Point, Sands Point and behind Execution Lighthouse by buoy 42. Depth of water 20-45 feet. The bluefish are in the 3-7 pound range and the striped bass from 20-40 pounds. Best bait is of course Jack's fresh bunker. Make sure to use the head of the bunker for the best results and chumming is a must!

On the fluke front this is one of the areas best kept secret. There are nice fluke being caught to 8 pounds with plenty of throw backs to make for great action. These fish are being caught off all of the points, bridges and barges in the local area from The Throgs Neck Bridge to as far east as Oyster Bay. Look for structure and depth of water 20-25 feet with larger fish coming from 30-40 feet and deeper. Best bait is Jack's jumbo spearing, large sand eels and fresh squid.

On the porgy front there are fish being caught behind Execution Lighthouse and off the points of Sands, Prospect and Matinicock Point in depths of 20-30 feet of water using Jack's jumbo sand worms, jumbo bloodworms, fresh clams and plenty of chum is a must in order to hold the fish around your boat. The porgies will get better and better as the waters start to warm.

For the surf fishermen fresh bunker, worms and plugs off of any shoreline beaches, bridges, parks and jetties in the local area.

We have plenty of party boats, rental boats and all kinds of equipment for the fishermen by the fishermen here at Jack's.

See You Soon!
