Big John's into the weekend fishing report

To put it mildly the night bass and blue fishing has been the best it has been in 20 years fish right now are between harts island and execution lighthouse and are abundant day or night. The best bait is fresh bunker of course this run should last at least another month until the water temperature gets real warm and then they move to warmer water out east so now is the time to get out and go fishing for these fish. On the porgy scene they are catching nice size porgies at Prospect Point, Sands Point, Matinicock and also by Rye and Mamaroneck are very good for big porgies. The best bait is sand worms and clams but to really secure a good catch you must use plenty of chum chumming is a must. As the weather gets warmer porgy fishing will get better and better every day. Fluke fishing is starting to pick up now with some keepers being caught a keeper nowadays is a very large fish so to catch a keeper it is a very good thing! Where they are catching porgies the fluke can also be found look for a rocky bottom or some kind of structure that is where these fluke will be sitting. Best bait spearing, squid, sand eel combo on a SPRO bucktail or fluke bullet. The weather is phenomenal the fishing is too so there is no excuse for you to say I can't go fishing so take a kid,Grandma,Grandpa,Dad, Mom,Wife,Husband,Sister,Brother,Son,Daughter or a friend fishing today! See You Soon! ~Big John jacks bait and tackle *if you are not going to eat them please catch, photo and release them

Fishermen's tales

Hey John,
John and I went to buoy 42 area last night. We caught 2 keepers at 36 and 39" and some blues. Everyone around us was into fish. We were going to stay but we had enough. Got back to the dock before dark.

Big John's fishing report

Striped bass fishing is the best it has been in 40 years fish from 25-55 pounds and better! The best bait is fresh or live bunker the bigger bass are biting just on the heads. The fish are so schooled up right now that you don't have to sink the bait to the bottom the fish will come up to the top on chunks. Blues are mixed in with the bass but you have to wait out the bluefish bite and as soon as the tide turns is when the bass come alive. The night bite right now is best! Fluke and porgies are also going very well so if you can get away from the blues and bass the porgies are being caught on sandworms, bloodworms, fresh clams and dont' forget to use plenty of clam chum to keep them around the boat. Big porgies between 1-3 pounds are the norm caught by Prospect Point, Sands Point, Mantinicock, Bayville, Oyster Bay, Rye and Mamaroneck. They are catching fluke on spearing, squid and sand eels by all the points, bridges, barges, Hart Island and the blouses. For every 2 people there are 2 keepers over 20 1/2 inches being caught.

The fishing is heating up in the Long Island Sound! How are you doing in this heat wave? Come on down to a VERY COOL Jack's Bait and Tackle today!

See You Soon!
