Fishing Report

Hey, How You Doing Out There In The Fishing World!?!

The 2012 spring fishing season is about to begin. The mild winter we have experienced here in the northeast has kept the water temperatures warm making the striped bass action good from New York to Virginia. In the New York area fish to 38 inches have been reported along the East River and into the Hudson River around Piermont, Tarrytown, Croton, Ossining, and Buchanan including areas around the Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges into Little Neck Bay. Best bait is Jack's Jumbo Bloodworms, fresh clams, squid and Jack's Jumbo Sandworms.

Jack's is fully stocked with all new 2012 inventory from Grunden"s foul weather gear to a large selection of Penn, Shimano, Daiwa, Tsunami rods and reels to top of the line Fin Strike terminal tackle and all mono and braided lines.

Our store hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the month of February and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 1st thru March 15th extended hours will begin after daylight savings time.

Our boat rentals are ready to go and will begin to rent on April 1, 2012. Now is a great time to drop off all your reels and rods for repairs and service.

This will definitely be a great early season for striped bass and other species. The official opening for striped bass north of the George Washington Bridge is March 16th. In New York waters the official opening is April 15th. Until then catch and release is the way to go. Also flounder fishing officially opens April 1st thru May 31st.

Looking forward to a great fishing year.

Are you ready? We are!

See You Soon!
