The week of Oct. 19th proved to be a week of change not only has the weather become cooler but the fish have gone on more of a feed. on the blackfish front Danny Brown aka Mr. Softie had 10 keepers blackfish to 7 1/2 pounds off the shorelines of Stanford Conn. He was fishing with green crabs and fiddler crabs and also Asian crabs in about 20 to 35 feet of water. He also tried in 50 feet of water and produced some blackfish as well. Locally Pea Island Huckleberry Island Hen and Chicken Mammaroneck Rye are also starting to produce nice blackfish as the water temperature begins to drop.
Also the next three weeks will be the best fishing for blackfish locally as these north northeast winds continue to blow cooler waters our way. right now the water temp. is 61 degrees and as we approach the 50's the bite will be on.
On the striped bass and bluefish front they continue to do very well with fresh bunker and mackeral anchored up off buoy 42 buoy 32A Throgs Neck and Stepping Stone Lighthouse. Three gentlemen on Sat Oct 18th on Jack's rental boats landed 10 jumbo blues to 12 pounds. As we approach the end of Oct. we must take advantage of any nice day before the really cold winds of November are upon us. Our hours still remain 5am to 8pm 7 days a week.
For those live eel enthusiasts we are stocking live eels for the big striped bass bite down the river. Also a note blackfish from the shoreline off the East River along the wall has been excellent.

Fishing Report
The fall fishing this past week has started with a bang! Large porgies and plenty of them are still being caught on all of the party boats in Long Island Sound. There is not a problem catching your limit of 45 fish with fish up to 3 pounds. Best baits are sandworms, bloodworms and fresh clams. Remember Oct. 15 is the final day for porgy fishing on the party boats or charter boats for the 2008 season.
On the blackfish front Bill Hession, Tom Schmidt and Ken Gress caught a 9.5 pound blackfish on The Dream Catcher this Sun. Oct. 5th by Hens and Chicken. They also had a bunch of other fish in the 3-5 pound class. They were using Jack's famous green crabs and fiddler crabs. Other fishermen reported good action along the shorelines of New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, and all the way up through Connecticut. Best depth right now is 15-20 feet of water those depths will increase as the temperature drops throughout the month of October. Realistically we have about 50 days of phenomenal blackfishing so get out while the getting is good! on the striped bass and bluefish front they are still managing striped bass up to 25 pounds being caught on the bottom between Stepping Stone and The Throgs Neck Bridge.
The bunker have left the area but we are still carrying fresh bunker which has been the best bait for the bass and the blues. A shop regular Sal continues to catch striped bass to 25 pounds on Jack's jumbo sandworms. Some fishermen are wandering down under the bridges toward the Laguardia Airport area and drifting with sandworms and live eels and producing fish from 15-25 pounds. Louis another shop regular continues to catch nice striped bass from the shorelines near The Throgs Neck Bridge. He claims the best bait for him is fresh clam and squid. On that note it seems that there are a variety of fish and a variety of bait producing nice fish in Long Island Sound.
Everything seems to be schooling up and getting ready to head to wherever they spend the winter months so now is the time to get out and go fishing.

Welcome Fall Fishing Report!
Welcome to the 2008 fall fishing season!
This past weekend Sept. 20 and 21st proved to be an excellent weekend for fishing. The weather was gorgeous the winds were light and the fish they sure did bite... Phil Mazzella and his twin sons were fishing off of Matinicock Point on Sunday and caught a 15 pound weak fish on hi lo rig while fishing for porgies. He also managed to limit out on porgies, bluefish and striped bass. This proved to be one of his best fishing days of the year, stories like this one are not uncommon but they are just kept quiet. Now is the time to get out and get fishing!
Jack's fresh bunker, Jack's jumbo sand and blood worms, Jack's famous fresh skimmer clams and last but not least Jack's fresh frozen chum are all the ticket to your best fishing day. Locations are Matinicock Point, Prospect Point, Bayville, and Sands Point on the Long Island side also Rye, Mammaroneck, New Rochelle and Larchmont on the Connecticut side. Depth of water for porgies right now is about 15 to 25 feet of water remember Sept. 26th is the last day that all recreational and rental boats are able to fish for porgies. You must then get on one of the party boats to catch 45 fish at 11 inches until Oct. 15th.
