Hump Day Fishing Report

Today proved to be a very good day on the fluke front Richie Mercado had a couple of keepers in the 24 inch range. Today on the Island Current they had many throw backs for catch and release just shy of 20 1/2 inches. The fluke have come in with a vengence so I suggest anyone who likes to fish for fluke should come in and buy some of my jumbo spearing and fresh squid. Best areas are going to be Prospect Point, Sands Point, Matinicock Point, the barges and the bridges, and all the local rocky points in Western Long Island Sound.

John,
The weather got nasty quick so we stayed on the west side of City Island. We wound up with 6 keeper flounder up to 15".At one point we saw birds diving and moving fast so we investigated. All we had was jig heads with curly worms to cast. We didn`t land anything but had numerous hookups; only to find the tails bitten off the jigs.Probably small blues.
