Happy Holidays!
We have finally come to the end of the 2008 fishing season. Do not let that get you down because we always have the spring to look forward to after all that is what makes living in the Northeast so great!...Looking forward to the of spring after missing it all winter long. This will be my last fishing report for 2008 and I want to take this time to thank all of you for a great 2008 season and to remind you to come on down to in Jack's. We will be open into mid December also a reminder that you can shop online all year long.

On the blackfish front the party boats continue to get some fish while fishing more to the East on the Conn. side of The Long Island Sound in deeper waters between 50-75 feet. Best bait now is green crabs.
The Daybreak and The North Star will finish their season Sunday Nov. 30. The Riptide and The Island Current will sail into the first week in December and possibly beyond weather permitting.
Starting Dec.1st our in store hours of operation will be 8am to 6pm Mon-Sun

Mid November Fishing Report
As we approach the middle of November Blackfishing is still very good in 25-50ft of water from Rye east to Connecticut Anthony Bucci landed 8 black fish to 8 pounds keeping his limit of 4 fishing with green crabs off of Rye.
On the bluefish front believe it or not there are still a lot of bluefish being caught up to 14 pounds out in the middle of Long Island Sound behind Execution Lighthouse. These fish are taking anything such as frozen bunker and frozen mackerel because they are very very hungry. As the water temperature continues to drop this week with cold air filtering in these bluefish should be gone by Thanksgiving.
On the striped bass front since the bunker have disappeared these striped bass are eating live eels, sandworms and bloodworms some of the smaller fish will eat the fresh clam the bigger ones will go after the eels and the worms. Most of these fish are being caught under the Throgs Neck Bridge and down the river towards the Triboro Bridge.
We will be renting boats on nice days until November 23rd. That will end it for the season and we will restart the season on April 1, 2009 for boat rentals. The party boats will continue to go out until Nov. 30th with some boats continuing to sail until at least the first week in December.
There isn't much time left so if you can get out in the next couple of weeks do so before the winter season of 2009 blows in.
