Early November Fishing Report

This past week proved to be a good sign of great blackfishing from 3 to 8 pounds are being caught in 20-50 ft of water, more towards the 50 on green crabs and Asian crabs. We have at least another 3 more weeks of great fishing before these blackfish more into deep, deep water and stop feeding. Best areas for these blackfish have been Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye and also along the shorelines of Connecticut as far east as Norwalk catching your limit is not a problem. Dennis Cassidy and his son Kyle were fishing in the local waters using green crabs and ended up with 12 keeper blackfish up to 6 pounds and only keeping their limit of 8. Also Steve Morales, his partner Junja and friends landed 16 blackfish with the biggest being 7 and 8 pounds.

On the bluefish front there are still plenty of bluefish out in the middle of the Long Island Sound using fresh bunker and mackeral. You may get lucky and catch a few stripers, most of the bass are now schooling up... watch for the birds working. You can either jig with diamond jigs or drop bait to the bottom and the bass should be there. Remember time is really limited now with just 6 weeks until Christmas so get out every chance you can to catch some of these great fish before the winter months.

See You Soon!
