Fishing Report

As we approach some of the nicest weather of the season some of the best fishing also follows. The water temperature is rising, the bait is moving in and the fish are right behind it. There have been reports of striped bass being caught under the bridges Throgs Neck and Whitestone. Stepping Stone lighthouse is also producing some fish. These fish are being caught in 20-50 feet of water with Jack's Fresh Bunker being the best bait along with Jack's Jumbo Sand Worms and live eels. These fish are migrating from west to east and they will be infiltrating Long Island Sound more and more each day.

Flounder fishing still continues to be ok with fish being caught in all the backs of the harbors and bays on muddy bottom with chumming a must! For the porgy enthusiasts the Island Current with its special RSA permit will be fishing within the next week to ten days for the jumbo porgies with 40 fish per person the limit. As far as recreational fishermen May 24th is the opening day for the porgies.

Let's not forget the fluke which opens on May 15th with no closed season until Sept.6th. We have a lot to look forward to so please make sure to take advantage of every day from this day on to get out, get your boats in the water, get out fishing, and go, go, go...enjoy life and let Jack's be a part of the experience.

A reminder please don't hesitate to email or call with any question you have about where the fish are and the best bait to use.

See You Soon!
